Scented candles can deliver great benefits that improve your well-being. But candles need some love to bring out the best in them. Here are some important tips for proper care and maintenance.

Always remember that our candles are made from 100% natural wax and zero additives. This means that the surface of the candle can become uneven once the wax cools, it's simply a characteristic of raw wax.

First Burn. The most important one.

Burn the candle long enough (minimum of 2 hours) for the entire top layer of wax to become liquified, otherwise it will create a “tunnel” in the wax. Once this is allowed to happen, the candle will continue to tunnel for the rest of its life.

Trim the wick after every use.

We recommend doing this every 2-4 hours of burn time. Let the flame extinguish first, wait until the candle cools down to room temperature, and trim the wick to around 5 mm before re-lighting. Trimming ensures the candle burns evenly and cleanly. Use a wick trimmer for a perfect trim.

Burn for 2-4 hours at a time.

We recommend that after burning for 2-4 hours, your candles should be extinguished, allowed to cool for two hours, and trimmed before relighting.

Keep it clear.

Avoid any debris in your molten wax, you don't want any half burnt matches or bits of wick in there! Debris can lead the candle to smoke and produce charring. It's also a potential fire hazard.

When to dispose.

Discontinue use of a candle when 5 mm of wax remains at the bottom of the jar. The glass can get hot on the bottom as the flame nears the base of the jar and most of the wax has been consumed. This will prevent possible heat damage to the surface or container itself.

Be extra-careful.

Always protect the surface on which the candle sits. Burn candles well away from other heat sources, and anything flammable. Make sure burning candles are out of reach of children and pets. Never attempt to move a lit candle. Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Storage.

The wax and oils we use in our candles are sensitive to both temperature and light, so please be careful when storing candles for an extended period of time. When you store your candle, be sure it is in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or intense light. Storing with the lid or dust cover on will keep the fragrance stronger and dust out.
